Economic Empowerment

Economic Empowerment

by Spectrum Uganda

Some of the most vulnerable in many societies are from the LGBT community. There are many disempowering barriers for this community including the stresses of “coming out”, constant workplace discrimination and general societal marginalisation which may limit their ability to achieve full economic empowerment.
Unemployment of LGBT people, particularly LGBT youth, remains one of the critical issues of the LGBT community in Uganda. Based on the situation, we considered it necessary to take action and initiate a human-centred economic empowerment program which strives to help young LGBT people, youth workers, youth activists and LGBT Allies to develop their skills in employment and social entrepreneurship.
