Local Leaders’ Engagement

Local Leaders’ Engagement

by Spectrum Uganda

Community leaders and, and other local leaders who manage local jurisdictions have the power to take action and make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ people. We believe that actions that begin at the local level have the potential to influence peer jurisdictions and can translate to significant changes.

Where local leaders are receptive and supportive of the community, case studies can be drawn to provide policymakers with opportunities to evaluate and refine the effectiveness of emerging ideas that can be adopted at a broader scale.

Local executives always embark on creating community-based programs that are designed to serve residents at the local level. These programs are diverse and encompass health, human services, economic security, education, and criminal justice services, among others. We believe in the need to harness these systems through dialogue with relevant policymakers at different levels of leadership.
